Due Season (Nov 21, 1999)
I love this time of year. The hot, humid summers in Texas come to a close,
and the cool, brisk winds usher in the fall season.
As a kid, I longed for that cool breeze of fall to blow in. It's always my
favorite time of year. A time of new clothes, new colors and new coolness.
A time of electric blankets and electric heaters. A time of raking leaves
and climbing trees. It reminds me that the old season is coming to a close
and a new season is about to begin--a new season full of changes and new
surroundings.
With panic attacks and gripping fear, it seems like the same old season
continues over and over again. There's no coolness of peace to blow into
our lives. The dry leaves are always the same bland color. The monotony of
life continues on day by day.
But God promises us change--a good change. We must diligently press in and
seek God with all of our heart. We must continue to worship him and praise
him, even when things are crumbling around us. We must press on, and press
in. When we do, the briskness of a new season will blow into our lives.
"And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap
if we do not lose heart" (Galatians 6:9).
Let me encourage you to press on, for your season draws near. Can you sense
a change of season ready to move into your life? If not, ask God to show
you this peace that waits for you in Jesus. Don't grow weary in doing good.
Don't lose heart. Ask God to reveal this new season--this season of
peace--that is waiting to blow into your life.
Blessings!
Russell
